Enrichment and Recreation Classes
We will be using several classrooms in the Fridley Community Center. This facility is air conditioned and well equipped for the wide-variety of classes we offer between 8:30 a.m. and Noon each day. Over 50 classes are offered each summer. Classes include sports such as t-ball, soccer, archery, floor hockey, fencing and tennis; visual arts such as drawing, bead art, painting, clay sculpture and scrapbooking; enrichment classes such as babysitting, cooking and newspaper club; performing arts such as movie making, puppets and dance; and science classes including silly science, rocketry and our earth. A brochure with detailed descriptions of classes will be available in March.
Lunch & The Playground/Chill Program
We will head across the street to Commons Park with our bag lunch each day and a little free time on the playground. Then children will spit up into two age groups (K-3 and 4-7). Children in grades K-3 will participate in our theme based Playground Program, which is held at the Commons Park Shelter and has been designed to involve children in a variety of activities including crafts, games and weekly visits to open swim and the library. Children in grades 4-7 will participate in the Chill Program, which is held at the ZONE and outside the FCC in the field areas. This program is made up of a variety of activities including sports, crafts, games, fishing, foosball, air hockey, video games, weekly visits to open swim and more! The afternoon program activities promote the development of friendships, self-esteem, good sportsmanship, coordination, motivation, creativity and imagination.
Wednesday Trip and Special Events
On Wednesday participants will have a fun filled day out and about. Each summer there are seven trips to fun destinations such as Bunker Beach, Sky Zone, MN Zoo, Valleyfair and Cascade Bay. We also have two special events each summer: Wet & Wild Water Party and Nickel Jamboree. Participants will spend time before and after the event at the Fridley Community Center.
