Planning & Zoning

The Planning Division Mission Statement
To protect the investments of Fridley property owners by fairly and equitably interpreting and enforcing Federal, State and City Codes, as they apply to use of a property.

What We Do . . .
The Planning Department has 6 main objectives:

  1. An educated public that understands the intent and benefits of code compliance.
  2. A proactive staff that recommends solutions to discrepancies, unfair, or outdated portions of the City Code to protect the public interest.
  3. A property trained, consistent and efficient staff which utilizes current technologies and systems to provide excellence in customer service.
  4. A cooperative relationship with our surrounding communities and all levels of government.
  5. Sustainable businesses whose growth or new establishment in the City is supported and encouraged when their placement in the community meets zoning code requirements and is in the public's best interest.
  6. A healthy balance between Fridley's natural environment and development.
