Mississippi River Regional Trail Closure Until Spring 2017

MississippiRiv.jpg

Beginning in October, construction will begin on the Mississippi River Regional Trail in the area just south of Locke Lake, along the west side of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railway. The trail will be closed until next spring.

The anticipated construction for this fall, beginning in October, includes: vegetation clearing, slope stabilization, fence installation between the trail and the railroad right of way, and trail reconstruction. Some lower hanging tree limbs will need to be pruned to allow clearance for construction equipment. The repaving of the trail may be completed this fall if temperatures permit, otherwise, the repaving will be completed in the spring of 2017. The construction activities will be limited to Monday through Friday, 7 am – 7 pm.

If you have any questions regarding this reconstruction project, please contact Danielle Sanborn, Anoka County Parks & Recreation, at Danielle.Sanborn@co.anoka.mn.us or 763-767-2864.
