Welcome to the Building Inspection Department

The Building Inspection Division exists to enforce and administer the construction codes which the City has adopted. These codes cover not only the structural aspect of construction but also the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, sewer and water, fire codes, etc. This assures that all construction meets all phases of code compliance whether it is done by a contractor, who should be familiar with the codes, or a homeowner, who has little or no knowledge of codes.

Applicable State and National Building Codes

The City of Fridley has adopted the 2007 Minnesota State Building Code as the Building Code of the City of Fridley. You can search the code by going to the State web site.

The issuance of permits, and collection of fees shall be as authorized in Minnesota Statute 16B.61, Subdivision 1, and 16B.70 and as provided for in Minnesota rules parts 1305.0106 and 1305.0107.
