City Council Print E-mail

The City of Fridley has a Council-Manager form of government. Under this form of government, the elected City Council sets the policies for the operation of the City. The day-to-day administrative responsibility of the City rests with the City Manager who is appointed by the City Council.

The City Council consists of five members: a Mayor, a Councilmember-at-Large and three Councilmembers representing each of Fridley's three wards. Each member of the Council serves a four-year term.

The Mayor and Councilmembers are elected in even-numbered years. The Mayor and Councilmember-at-Large are elected the same year that the United States President is elected. Ward Councilmembers are elected the same year that Minnesota's Governor is elected.

Who is our City Council?

Scott Lund is Mayor, Robert Barnette is Councilmember-at-Large, Jim Saefke represents Ward 1, Dolores Varichak represents Ward 2, and Ann Bolkcom represents Ward 3.

Special meetings may also be held. The agendas for each Council meeting are available in the City Manager's Office on the Friday afternoon preceding a Council meeting.  Agendas are also available on the City's web site.
