Voter Registration InformationIn Minnesota, you must meet the following requirements to register and vote:
In addition, anytime you move or change your name, you will need to re-register to vote. You can pre-register to vote up to 21 days prior to an election. This will save you time at the polls on Election Day. You may pre-register by filling out a Registration Card or at the time you renew your driver's license. If you are interested in finding out whether or not you are registered to vote, you may check for voter registration status here. You may download a Voter Registration Card from Anoka County Elections. This card may be returned to Anoka County Elections, 325 E. Main St., Anoka, MN 55303. If you return the voter registration card by mail, you may be asked for your identification on election day. Election Day RegistrationYou may also register to vote at your polling place on Primary Election Day or General Election Day with acceptable identification allowed by state law:
Absentee BallotsAbsentee ballot voting begins 45 days before each election to anyone who reasonably expects to be unable to go to their polling place on Election Day because of absence from the precinct, illness, disability, religious discipline or observance, or service as an election judge. Absentee ballot voting may be done in person or through the mail. The first step is completing an absentee ballot application. You may download an absentee ballot application or click on elections@ci.fridley.mn.us to request an absentee ballot from the city clerk. Once you have completed the absentee ballot application, if you are e-mailing, faxing or mailing it, or having someone return it for you, you must send it to Anoka County. Their e-mail address is elections@co.anoka.mn.us; their fax is 763-422-7526; or their address is 325 E Main Street, Suite W130, Anoka, MN 55303. If you are voting in person, you can bring it to the Fridley Municipal Center (City Hall) at 6431 University Avenue NE, Fridley, MN. If you vote in person, The City will provide an absentee ballot application for you to complete and your ballot will be issued after we have verified the information. Once you have voted, the city will verify the information and process your ballot. Once you have voted in person or by mail, you may look-up the status of your absentee ballot here. Where Do I Vote? For the State Primary August 14, 2012 and the State General November 6, 2012, you will vote at your normal polling location. Every resident is assigned a polling location (precinct) based on the address where you live. Polling locations are open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Election JudgesAre you interested in seeing democracy in action? The City of Fridley is continually recruiting election judges to serve during fall elections. An election judge serves on a team responsible for the administration of the election procedures on Election Day.
If you are interested in becoming an election judge in the future, you may download and return a 2012 election Judge Application or contact the Fridley City Clerk.
