River’s Edge Neighborhood
Date: October 23, 2009 (reported)
Time: Overnight Hours
Place: 6200 block of Alden Way
During the overnight hours a suspect(s) entered into a home through an unlocked window and took a wallet which had been left out. A few doors down from this burglary, unknown suspect(s) attempted to steal a vehicle, and just a short distance away the suspect(s) were able to successfully steal a vehicle. This Fall, similar burglaries have take place on the East Side of Fridley while the West side has had an increase in vehicle thefts. Now there have been both types of incidents in the River’s Edge Neighborhood.
Fridley Police are taking these thefts very seriously. If you have any information which may lead to possible suspect(s) please call 9-1-1 and ask to talk with an officer. Thieves look for opportunity. The appearance of a homeowner being gone or an unlocked door or window may be all the invitation needed. Privacy fencing may be enjoyed by the homeowners, but is also the perfect concealment for thieves as well.
Always call 9-1-1 if you see a suspicious person or vehicle in your neighborhood. If someone tries to gain access to your home, please call 9-1-1 immediately. If you return home and suspect an intruder may be in your home, leave immediately. Confrontation may be dangerous. Go to a neighbor, call 9-1-1 and report any observations. Remember, your safety is more important than any property.
Safety Tips
- Keep all doors and windows secured.
- Keep note of and report suspicious vehicles and persons.
