Project Updates

October 2nd, 2020

This upcoming week the contractor will be raising iron which includes the manholes and water valves to prepare for the final lift of asphalt. There will be continued restoration of areas disturbed during construction. Finally milling will take place on 71st avenue on Friday, October 9th and final paving will take place on Saturday, October 10th. More information can be found in this week's emailed notice.

September 25, 2020

Paving will continue over the next week as well as restoration and pond work. Please see the official emailed notice for more information.

September 18, 2020

The contractor will begin pouring concrete curb and gutter around the project area on Monday, September 21st. The contractor will also be pouring the sidewalk on the south side of 71st Avenue from the Service Road toward the east. It will need 7 days of undisturbed curing, so we ask all driving, biking or walking stay off this area. Grading and paving will be taking place as well as work on the trail. September 11, 2020

The contractor will begin street reclamation on the project streets the week of September 14th. Trail work will also continue on the construction of the new trail in front of the Civic Campus on the west side of the service road from 69th to 73rd Avenue. September 3, 2020

Starting Friday, September 4th, the access to the intersection of 69th Avenue and University Avenue East Service road will be closed permanently. Detour signage will be posted. A map of the detour route can be viewed in the emailed update found below.

August 28, 2020

The contractors began work onsite this week on 69th Avenue. After the watermain work is completed, the contractor will start the storm sewer work that is part of the project on 69th Avenue and 71st Avenue. The contractor will also start the excavation of the 10-foot bituminous trail that is going to be constructed between Trunk Highway 47 and University Avenue East Service Road from 69th Avenue to 73rd Avenue.

August 21, 2020 

Construction is slated to begin the week of August 24th. Park Construction will begin mobilizing onside. Removals will begin of pavement, curb, trees, etc. Later in the week utility work will begin on storm and watermains. The City will send addtional emailed notices as work commences. This space will also be updated with the latest information.

July 24, 2020

The project has been awarded to Park Construction Company of Fridley, MN. A preconstruction meeting will be held later this month and it is anticipated construction will begin in August. An open house for this upcoming street project will be held on January 22nd at 6:00 pm at the Fridley Civic Campus. A presentation will be given and you will have an opportunity to ask questions. More information can be found in the official mailed public notice found here
