2021-01 Street Rehabilitation Project
Project Update 05 - September 23rd, 2022
The Contractor will begin street reclamation on Tuesday September 27th in the project streets. Street reclamation grinds the first 6”-8” of the existing roadway into a suitable aggregate base for the new pavement. The Contractor will immediately follow the street reclamation with grading to prepare the base and provide a drivable surface. As a reminder, we ask that no vehicles be parked on the streets during working hours from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. This gives the contractor room to work more efficiently. Please see emailed public notice for further details.
Project Update 04 - September 16, 2022
During the week of September 19th, the contractor will begin pouring concrete curb & gutter in the project area. The new concrete requires 7 days of undisturbed curing to strengthen and cure properly. We ask that during this time residents do not park adjacent to the new concrete. Please see emailed public notice for further details.
Project Update 03 - September 9, 2022
This week, the Contractor mobilized equipment and began preparation for curb & gutter removal in select locations. This work is anticipated to occur the week of September 12th. Driveway access will be maintained for all properties during the curb removal process, however, there may be times that vehicle access to driveways is temporarily impacted as the Contractor works in an area. Please see the emailed public notice for more information.

Project Update 01 - May 27, 2022
The City of Fridley awarded the Street Rehabilitation Project No. ST2021-01 to North Valley Inc. of Nowthen, MN. The bids came in a little higher than staff were projecting during the preliminary design and after calculating the special assessments with contractor’s costs the special assessments are estimated to be 10% higher than the amount projected previously. This is due to the increase in oil prices that occurred between October of 2021 and now. Staff is currently reviewing the project to see where costs might be reduced.
The street contractor has provided a preliminary construction schedule starting at the beginning of August. A more formal project schedule will be shared in July. Once the project starts residents can anticipate a weekly update during construction.
