The City of Fridley, through funding made available from the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, will be making additional upgrades to treat stormwater runoff from a large portion of the project. These will help keep the River clean.
On July 14, the MWMO provided additional funding
totaling $342,000 to the City of Fridley for water quality improvements as part of this project.
Also, additional sanitary sewer reconstruction has been added within the following street segments to improve performance and reduce sewer maintenance:
Horizon Drive from 3rd Street to 53rd Avenue
Hughes Avenue from Panorama Drive to Horizon Drive
Capitol Street north of Hughes Avenue
The sewer utility work and storm water quality improvements will not be a part of your special
assessment for this project; they are funded through utility funds and the MWMO grant.
Due to the addition of this work, the project schedule has changed. The project completion
date is extended through the summer of 2016 to permit time for construction.
Project Schedule Changes:
• CenterPoint has substantially completed gas main replacement
• Project Bid Date has been moved to August 6, 2015 to allow incorporating added work
• Anticipated contractor start is August 31, 2015
• An update will provide a more detailed schedule at the end of August
• Work will be phased by the contractor, with substantial completion by August 1, 2016
Owners on 3rd Street from 49th Avenue to 53rd Avenue and on the Hughes Avenue cul-de-sac
should have received a notice of an onsite meeting the evening of August 5th to discuss water
quality improvements that will be incorporated on their street.
