Streambank stabilization of Lower Rice Creek to reduce erosion and improve water quality will begin in Locke County Park in mid-August and continue for approximately three months.
Rice Creek Watershed District, the City of Fridley, and Anoka County Parks are restoring sections of Rice Creek with rock, regrading, and native plantings. This activity may temporarily cause closures of gravel and mulch trails in Locke County Park, however asphalt trails will not be impacted. You can learn more about this project at Ricecreek.org/projects. Residents in the Rice Creek Watershed can also help improve water quality of Rice Creek by making their lawns more eco-friendly or adopting a storm drain.
