In the past week, there have been several reports of residential burglaries in Fridley, as well as reported mail theft. Lock doors and windows, including patio doors, keep valuables out of sight. Always call 9-1-1 if you notice suspicious activity.

On August 26, a home burglary was reported in the Hyde Park area taking place sometime between 7:30 am and 12:45 pm and gaining access through a patio door.

On August 17, a daytime residential burglary was reported in the Melody Manor neighborhood. Thieves gained entrance by breaking a basement window.

Also on August 17, a residential burglary was reported in the Moore Lake Hills neighborhood. The suspect gained entry by breaking and removing a window sometime between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m.

On August 15, officers responded to a report of mail theft from residential mailboxes in the River Edge Way area. It is uncharacteristic for thieves to steal from only one mailbox. In general, they will take mail from several different boxes in an area. Remember to deposit all outgoing mail in a secure authorized USPS mailbox. If you are expecting a delivery that has not arrived in a timely manner, please check the shipping status.

More Safety Tips: Remove valuables from cars and hide them from sight at home. Keep doors and windows locked, including patio doors and use locking bars for patio doors. Install motion lights high enough that someone cannot reach up and unscrew the bulb. Have a neighbor keep an eye out when you are on vacation or sign up online for the Police Reserves to check your property while you are away (simply click on the badge icon on the left side of your screen for Online Police Report). Keep an inventory of everything you own. Finally, if you see suspicious behavior, call 9-1-1 immediately.
