In the past week, there have been several reports of residential burglaries in Fridley, as well as reported mail theft and vehicle theft and tampering. Always call 9-1-1 immediately if you notice suspicious activity.
Thieves often look to commit crimes of convenience that provides quick and easy access to things like money, electronics or transportation. Safety Tips: Remove valuables from cars and hide them from sight at home. Remove car keys and lock your vehicle even when parking in the garage. Keep doors and windows locked, including patio doors and use locking bars for patio doors. Install motion lights high enough that someone cannot reach up and unscrew the bulb. Have a neighbor keep an eye out when you are on vacation or sign up online for the Police Reserves to check your property while you are away (simply click on the badge icon on the left side of your screen for Online Police Report). Keep an inventory of everything you own. Any size dog can be a noisy deterrent for criminals. If you witness or suspect someone is in your home, do not confront them. Go to a neighbor's and call 9-1-1.
Thieves have gained access to these homes by breaking a window or through a patio door, and several have occurred during the day.
There was also a report of mail theft from a residential mailbox or mailboxes on August 15. Remember to deposit all outgoing mail in a secure authorized USPS mailbox. If you are expecting a delivery that has not arrived in a timely manner, please check the shipping status.
If you see suspicious behavior, CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY!
