Our goal is to create a community where people can work, live and play all in their own neighborhood. This plan guides future redevelopment to complete necessary pedestrian/cycling connections to transit in the area including buses and the commuter train.
The area of the city included in this plan is Main Street west to the River and 62nd Way south to I-694.
The purpose of the Northstar TOD Master Plan, approved by Council on 12/8/2014, is to guide future redevelopment of the area in a way that completes necessary pedestrian/cycling connections to transit in the area, including buses and the commuter train. The plan also shows developers the types of uses and designs that the City has pre-approved for the area.
The plan, funded by a Metropolitan Council grant, was the result of a year-long process that included expert advice and feedback from area residents. The final product reflects all of the great input along the way from the open houses, City Council, Commissions, staff, Metro Transit and Anoka Transportation departments.
The design views in the approved Transit-oriented development area below are samples of building heights, stormwater and street treatments, bus stop, street crossings, shopping and housing. Some might indicate concepts that will be implemented far into the future, other plans might be attractive to developers and happen on a more accelerated time-table.
