[ARCHIVED] The Plows are Out

Plow_thumb.jpg

City plows set out early this morning to clear streets & walks. Do not park vehicles on city streets today as we work to clear the roads as safely and quickly as possible.

Also, bring keep children a safe distance from the roadways and snow banks near the street, and keep garbage/recycling containers off the roads and sidewalks.

We begin with emergency routes and proceed to the rest of the city. It takes approximately 2-4 hours to clear the snow emergency routes, and approximately 6-8 additional hours to clear the remaining streets. The City is divided into 11 snow plowing districts after the emergency routes are plowed. In each district, there are 4 alternating starting points that rotate after each snowfall.

We know it is frustrating. We also battle those roadways and try to make it to our jobs and families. Please be careful when driving, allow extra time and be patient.

If you have any questions regarding our plowing procedures, please visit our snow removal web page or call Fridley Public Works at (763) 572-3566.
