If you receive a call demanding immediate payment from someone claiming to be the City of Fridley, hang up. This is a scam using technology to fake caller ID. If a utility bill is overdue, you would be contacted by US Mail from the city, not by phone.
We are getting reports that some residents are receiving phone calls with the caller ID displaying as City of Fridley and the caller is claiming you are overdue on some kind of payment to the city. The caller insists on immediate payment or requests gift cards/money cards to be mailed to them.
This is a SCAM. Hang up or tell the caller you are not able to make an immediate payment and hang up.
