On-site Meeting August 5 at 7:15 p.m. to discuss proposed changes to 3rd Street NE at select locations between 49th Avenue and 53rd Avenue.
The City of Fridley, through funding made available from the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization (MWMO), will be making additional upgrades to treat stormwater
runoff from a large portion of the project. These will help meet our water quality goals and
help keep the Mississippi River clean.
The City proposes to reduce pavement area on 3rd Street NE as part of these improvements by
constructing curb bumpouts at select locations on 3rd Street NE between 49th Avenue and 53rd Avenue. These would reduce paved surface and provide an area for storm water treatment. These can also provide the added benefit of traffic calming, which may reduce vehicle speeds on the street. See the sample of photos in the Public Notice showing examples of stormwater
bumpouts.
